- Duluth, Minnesota is home to several successful aerospace and aviation companies: Cirrus Design Corporation, the world's second largest manufacturer of single-engine, piston-powered aircraft, manufactures the SR-20 and SR-22 aircrafts and employs over 750 workers in Duluth and another 125 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Northstar Aerospace manufactures precision-machined parts and crew/passenger seats for Cirrus Design. Northstar employs 65 machinists, metal fabricators, welders, assemblers and support staff.
