About MnCareers

Choosing what type of education or training is right for you? Deciding how to start or change your career? MnCareers is a publication that can help with education and career decisions.

MnCareers is a career and education planning guide for explorers of all ages. The 120-page publication, updated annually, has been produced for more than 10 years and has received numerous awards and endorsements.

MnCareers helps career explorers

MnCareers' goal is to provide career explorers with information needed to identify interests and understand the opportunities and challenges faced in the world of higher education and work.

Each year, MnCareers provides Minnesota-specific labor market, education and career exploration information. Career explorers will find an interest assessment, details on over 200 occupations, and resources for education, training, job searching as well as links to career resources and services offered by Minnesota state entities.

MnCareers, produced by iSeek Solutions, can be used as a print companion to the ISEEK website.

MnCareers is a starting place for making informed decisions

MnCareers uses the nationally recognized 16 career clusters to categorize more than 200 Minnesota jobs. This data gives details about potential careers, including local wages, skills and training needed, and what it's like on the job. When you want to explore more about any career cluster, MnCareers directs you to other valuable resources.

MnCareers also walks you through options for your future, including higher education, apprenticeship, the military and more. There are also a lot of local resources for job seekers looking for immediate help. MnCareers' content map shows the wide variety of topics covered in the publication.

All types of students and job seekers use MnCareers

Counselors, teachers and community groups have used MnCareers for more than 10 years in several different ways. Most often, the guide is utilized as a classroom textbook, as a tool for one-on-one career counseling, or as a resource for individual career exploration

Historically, the largest consumers of MnCareers are high school students and faculty. The remainder is distributed widely to colleges and universities, adult learning centers, middle schools, rehabilitation counseling offices, libraries, local and state agencies, correctional facilities, community organizations, and other workforce development and education venues.

Almost all of the state's Workforce Centers use MnCareers with their clients on a regular basis. Individual job seekers and parents also purchase MnCareers to help themselves and their families with college and career decisions.

MnCareers content comes from trusted partners

MnCareers offers expanded content online

The contents of this year's MnCareers can be found in several places on the ISEEK website. By combining MnCareers' online content with ISEEK, students and job seekers have access to more interest and assessments, a longer list of resources for career cluster exploration, and more details on postsecondary education and training programs in Minnesota.

This content map will help you find the online equivalent of a specific MnCareers page.

Also connected to ISEEK are regional websites with education and labor market information for various parts of Minnesota. This regional content is sponsored by the Department of Employment and Economic Development, local Workforce Investment Boards, iSeek Solutions and other regional partners. These websites complement the printed regional supplements produced by MnCareers each year:
