Financial Aid and Tuition After a Job Loss

Find out if you qualify for federal Dislocated Worker training funding. Even if you don't, there are many financial aid options to help you achieve your education goals.

You may be eligible for federally funded training opportunities.

If you were laid off as part of a mass layoff, you may qualify for training services through the Dislocated Worker program. This U.S. Department of Labor program links laid-off workers to jobs in their communities. It also connects workers to both occupational training and training in basic skills. Participants can choose a training program from a qualified training provider.

You may be able to take classes free of charge.

Some state colleges and universities offer a tuition waiver for unemployed people. Restrictions apply. Policies also change from one semester to the next.
