Introduction. State your interest in the specific position or type of work you are applying for. Mention how you learned about the job opening.
Body of your sales pitch. Say exactly why you are the ideal candidate for this position. Be specific about how your skills and experience directly apply to the requirements of the position. Explain why you have chosen this employer.
Strong closing. Say that you'd like to meet with the employer. Be sure to communicate your plan to follow-up. Mention that your resume is enclosed. Include day and evening contact information, even though it is also listed at the top of the letter. Finally, thank the employer for his or her time.
