Transfer
Ever wonder if you are attending the right school?
There are many reasons to transfer to a different school. Maybe you chose your school because it was close to home or because your friends were there. But what if things are different now or the program you really want to study isn't offered at your school.
Transferring schools can keep you on track, but you need to prepare. It is important to find out first if the new school will accept the credits you've already earned.
Transfer to Another Minnesota School
MnTransfer is a web resource to help students planning to transfer between Minnesota colleges or universities. Completion of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) at one institution enables you to receive credit for all lower-division general education upon admission to any other Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) institution. The University of Minnesota recognizes the MnTC as fulfilling the lower division general education component of its degree programs.
Transfer to a School Outside of Minnesota
u.select is a multi-state online tool to help you view program requirements, course equivalencies, and see how courses you have taken will transfer to another college or university.
Transfer to Metropolitan State University
- Know the transfer admission requirements and application deadline.
- Understand any specific requirements (CPA or course completion) for acceptance into the program/major you are transferring into.
- Check which courses at your college will meet course requirements for the major you are transferring into. The equivalency chart (42KB, .pdf) shows which courses from Minnesota Community and Technical College (MCTC) and Inver Hills Community College (IHCC) are equivalent to courses at Metropolitan State University. These are courses required for degrees at Metropolitan State University in the Management Information Systems and Information Assurance programs.
- Research transfer resources and information on your current college's website (MCTC transfer services and IHCC transfer resources).
