The Electrical Construction & Maintenance program provides graduates with entry-level employment skills and knowledge in the electrical construction and manufacturing industry. Graduates enter the field as apprentice maintenance electricians, apprentice construction electricians, apprentice power limited technicians, panel builders and estimators. Coursework includes electrical fundamentals theory and application; motors, transformers and generators; motor control; power generation and distribution; low voltage systems; Renewable Energy Sources; electrical safety; and programmable controllers and industrial controls . Students also receive extensive training in residential, commercial and industrial wiring techniques as well as the National Electrical Code (NEC). Students learn crucial problem solving skills as they advance through the program. Arts & Sciences curriculum supports the technical skills students learn and enhances oral and written communication skills, fundamental math skills and critical thinking ability.
