The development of the wind career paths industry map was funded by a grant awarded under the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration. The interactive tool was further developed through funding from a Green Labor Market Information Improvement grant awarded to the Labor Market Information Office of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and funding from an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant awarded to the Division of Energy Resources of the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

By 2020, Minnesota's largest electric utility will produce 30 percent of its power with renewable resources.
By 2025, all Minnesota utilities will produce 25 percent of their power using renewable resources.
Minnesota is the fourth largest wind energy producer in the United States.
Minnesota is among the top 10 states in the nation with the best wind energy potential.
