The development of the ethanol career paths industry map was funded by Renewable Works!, a Minnesota Sector Partnership for the Renewable Energy Industry. The interactive tool was further developed through funding from a Green Labor Market Information Improvement grant awarded to the Labor Market Information Office of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and funding from an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant awarded to the Division of Energy Resources of the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Ethanol is a $3 billion-a-year industry in Minnesota, supporting 11,000 jobs.
Jobs in the renewable fuels industry combine both thinking and doing.
A typical ethanol plant employs 35 to 50 people, depending on capacity and processing technology.
Sixty percent of the jobs in an ethanol plant involve skills that can be acquired in a two-year associate degree program.
