Life guards and ski patrollers monitor recreational areas, such as lakes and ski runs. They rescue people and provide first aid when needed.

Both lifeguards and ski patrollers need to be the very best at what they are watching: swimming and skiing. They need to be able to rescue and treat people for a variety of things, from dangerous currents to falls to heart attacks while taking a chair lift up the mountain
