License Information

Nursery Stock Grower Certificate

The license information below is specific to the state of Minnesota.


Description

License Requirements:
-Annual inspection of nursery stock by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. (NOTE: Applicants must supply maps to all growing sites to be inspected and certified and list all sources of nursery stock that they propose to sell and/or distribute for the certificate year.)

"Nursery stock" means a plant intended for planting or propagation, including but not limited to, trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, biennials, grafts, cuttings, and buds that may be sold for propagation whether cultivated or wild, and all viable parts of these plants.

-Issued certificate must be posted and visible at the grower's sales location.

-Certificates must be renewed annually.

To renew your certificate, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will send you a renewal application 30 days prior to your certificate's expiration date. If you need a duplicate certificate, please contact Karen Matthees, Licensing Coordinator, lisinfo@mda.state.mn.us or (651) 201-6515.

License Fees:
Nursery Stock Growers pay an annual fee based on the area of all acreage on which nursery stock is grown for certification as follows:

Number of Acres Certificate Fee

Less than one-half acre $150

One-half acre to 2 acres $200

Over 2 acres up to 5 acres $300

Over 5 acres up to 10 acres $350

Over 10 acres up to 20 acres $500

Over 20 acres up to 40 acres $650

Over 40 acres up to 50 acres $800

Over 50 acres up to 200 acres $1,100

Over 200 acres up to 500 acres $1,500

Over 500 acres $1,500

plus $2 for each

additional acre.

Certification fees are not refundable.


Period:
January 1-December 31


Determination:
1 to 2 weeks.
